Turntable Renovations |
A continuing series on the rejuvination project of the 30+ year's old Suydam Roundhouse. This kit was originally built by my dad, Joe Boudreaux, in the mid 1970's for our HO scale layout, and I have done my best to preserve the original model. Now that I have included the structure in the plans for the new layout, it is time to begin restoring and bringing this model up to date with modern modeling techniques.
Weathering the turntable- September 7, 2007Using a combination of paints and weathering powders I tried to simulate a lot of rusting and overall high use on the roundtable. Since the Southern RR used this for years during the steam era, and now that it is being used for Norfolk Southern diesel use, we see a lot of rusting and weathering showing up here. Might have to put in an order to have the MOW crew perform some power washing and weather proofing soon! |
